When we formulated our vitamin C, the first decision wasn't the marketing line. It was 500mg of calcium ascorbate per capsule — not 250, not 1,000. Here's the thinking, because if a brand can't explain its numbers, the numbers are decoration.
Why buffered, why 500mg
Plain ascorbic acid is acidic enough to bother a sensitive stomach at the doses people actually take in winter. Calcium ascorbate is the same vitamin C bound to calcium — pH-neutral, gentle, absorbed the same way. That's the whole trick. No patented delivery system, just a form choice that means you can take 2–3 capsules through winter without regretting it.
On dose: your body's transporters for vitamin C saturate. Very large single doses mostly pass through. Spreading 500mg with meals, two or three times a day when you need it, keeps blood levels topped up better than one heroic morning gram. One capsule daily is a maintenance dose; winter or high-stress weeks justify more. The label says exactly this, in milligrams.
Where quercetin fits
Quercetin is a plant flavonoid — onions, apples, capers — that's been studied for immune and seasonal support, typically in the 500–1,000mg per day range. It pairs naturally with vitamin C, which is why you'll find the two together in half the serious immune formulas on earth. Ours is a complex dosed for daily use through the season, declared per capsule on the label. It supports normal immune function; it is not a rescue remedy for the flu you already have.
The supporting cast
Immune Plus is our everyday blend for people who want one bottle instead of three — the trade-off, honestly, is that a blend can't carry the full studied dose of every ingredient at once. If you want maximum quercetin, take quercetin. If you want convenient daily cover, a blend earns its place. We make both because both decisions are legitimate.
The honest bit
None of this outruns four hours of sleep, a vitamin-D-free winter spent indoors, or the office cold going around. Supplements support an immune system that's already being looked after — they don't substitute for one. If you're getting every bug every winter, the more useful conversation is about sleep, stress and vitamin D status, and possibly a check-up — message a consultant on WhatsApp and we'll say so plainly.
Building the routine
A sensible Highveld winter stack: Buffered C daily (2–3 capsules through the cold months), Quercetin Complex daily, and Immune Plus if you'd rather consolidate. Read the numbers on each label — they're the point. If you're not sure where to start, the 2-minute quiz will route you honestly, including telling you when you don't need all three.
